5 Ways to Improve Your Home’s Curb Appeal

When potential buyers view your home, the first thing they’ll see is the exterior. It’s often what will make or break a home sale. But by boosting your home’s curb appeal, you can make a great first impression to your potential buyers, selling your home faster. Here’s how:

Add some greenery

Planting some greenery and flowers will go a long way to making your yard look its best. You don’t even have to add a full garden—put some planters and window boxes up along your front porch to get the same effect. Try to get plants that go well with the design of your home, and be sure to spruce up the grass, too. Keep it well-trimmed and watered so it looks lush and green all season long.

Dress up your front door

Your front door is the focal point of its exterior, so you want to use it to make a statement. Paint it a bright color that accentuates the rest of your home’s color scheme, or install an eye-catching door knob. You can also hang up a wreath or door knocker to add some more character. Finally, be sure to add a doormat. Keep it simple, but a doormat with a nice greeting is also an excellent touch.

Fix up your mailbox

Wherever your mailbox sits, it’s important that it’s clean and updated. An old, crumbling mailbox will turn buyers away just as much as a crumbling patio. When you’re installing your mailbox, though, just make sure you’re following the regulations set forth by the U.S. Postal Service, and the city you live in.

Clean your gutters

It’s everyone’s least favorite chore, but it needs to be done. Clean your gutters inside and out, clearing away any dirt or debris. Once you’re done, they should look as good as new.

Power wash the dirt away

Take a power washer to your siding, porch, walkway, and driveway, removing any dirt and grime you can find. Getting rid of years of dirt will boost your home’s curb appeal like nothing else.
