Buying a Home Just Got Clearer ... Understanding the New Buyer Agreement & How it Helps

If you’re thinking about buying a home, here’s an important update from the

 National Association of REALTORS® (NAR):

​Written Buyer Agreement

  • ​Before touring homes, every buyer working with a REALTOR® will now be asked to sign a Written Buyer Agreement.

  • It’s a simple, clear document that explains:

    • What your REALTOR® will do for you

    • How they’ll be compensated (negotiable!)

    • The terms of your working relationship

Why It Matters

  • No surprises or confusion about responsibilities or payments

  • Gives you confidence and clarity in the process

  • Helps you focus on finding your home

Flexible & Negotiable

  • You can adjust the length, services, and compensation to fit your needs

  • You’ll only sign once you’ve chosen a REALTOR® and are ready to start touring homes

 

 

 

Cost

  • Signing the agreement doesn’t necessarily mean paying out of pocket

  • Commission is often covered by the seller or are negotiable
